The truth about Ozempic

It seems a lot of people, don’t actually know anything about Ozempic, or what this medicine is really about, or why people need it. We seems obsessed with celebrities. It seems celebrities, are the smartest people on this earth, because of their influence, in social media. So we worship them, admire them, believe everything and anything they rave about. I mean, if they use a product, it means that product is the absolute MUST, that everyone must have. That, or the people on Tik Tok. The “Influencers” who influence anything but the truth, to promote a product, in order to make money from it.

I have been diagnose with type 2 diabetes last year. Let’s rewind a little bit, and i will tell you how i got there. I have been obese for the last 12 years or so, maybe more, because of an eating disorder i have. I got that disorder from childhood trauma. That led me to gain a whole lot amount of weight, throughout my adult life, as a way to cope with my emotions. Food made me feel better. I ate my emotions through food. I never knew, that i was predisposed to become a diabetic Type 2, thanks to my genetics. I was diagnose with Prediabetes for the past 6 years or so. I did not take that seriously, and continued to have a really bad diet. Fast forward 6 years later, i was diagnosed with diabetes. Im “lucky” in a way, that i could have gotten diabetes a lot earlier than that.

Having a predisposition for diabetes, means that, i am most likely, to get it, if i am not careful with my diet. Well that happened to me. It means that, it runs in the family. It means that, you have someone, or a few people, either your mother, or your father side, or both side, that have diabetes.

Before i continue, you need to understand what HA1C is. A normal A1C level is below 5.7%, a level of 5.7% to 6.4% indicates prediabetes, and a level of 6.5% or more indicates diabetes. Within the 5.7% to 6.4% prediabetes range, the higher your A1C, the greater your risk is, for developing type 2 diabetes.

Anyway, 2 years ago, my Ha1c blood test came back at 6.4. That meant i was borderline diabetic. That meant that, i was at 1 point to get diabetes, if i didn’t drastically change my diet and lower my blood sugar levels. When i got diagnosed, a year later, my Ha1c test was 7.1, which is not that bad, but still. My whole world changed. That meant that i had to make drastic changes in my life, if i wanted to live a longer life, without all the problems, that come with having diabetes. Weight loss, blood sugar control, diet control. I had to rethink everything and change my habits right away. The earlier the diagnosis, the better the outcome of avoiding all the bad symptoms, that comes with having diabetes.

Let me tell you that, this was the kick needed, to change my whole thinking and view on food. I was serious about getting better. I wasn’t going to let this disease kill me, like it did my grandfather or my father. They both died before their 60’s. My brothers also have diabetes, which mean my sister will most likely have it, if she doesn’t change her lifestyle.

You can put diabetes in remission, through weight loss, diet change, and exercise. It is very important, if you have been diagnosed with diabetes, to take this disease seriously and change your lifestyle. People who die young from it, don’t die from diabetes, but all the complications that comes with having diabetes. Diabetes is unfortunately a rampant disease. Millions of people have it, many more die from it. It’s very hard to live with this disease, because of all the sacrifices that one must make, in order to live a healthy life, without all the complications rising from having it. I wish i had taken my diagnosis more seriously, when i had prediabetes. Unfortunately, i now have to deal with this terrible thing. It’s not a death sentence at all, it just means that you have to follow a strict regimen, in order to be healthy and stay healthy. Diabetes affect everything in your body, all your organs, your heart mainly, your arteries. It raises your blood pressure, your cholesterol.

The first thing i had to do, is lose weight. I have tried, and tried, and tried to lose weight for so many years before that. I tried every possible diet on the planet, nothing worked. I just couldn’t stop eating my emotions, and falling back into this bad habit, until last year, when i got my blood test back.

I am not one to take drugs, very easily. If i am sick, i tough it out. I try everything possible, unless i really need it, like antibiotics. So my doctor prescribed me Ozempic. I had heard about it, and was very hesitant to try it. I read about it on the internet, and decided it was not for me. I would try my way, and try losing weight, change my diet, at my own pace and on my terms. Losing a lot of weight requires a LOT of willpower and not many people are able to do it. Honestly i don’t think i would have change my lifestyle, if i didn’t get diabetes. My personal willpower, was never strong enough. I would exercise, walk my dogs, stop eating out, only to fall back again into my bad habits, again and again. It was a vicious cycle.

The ONLY way, that i was actually able, to lose weight, was to cut sugar out of my diet. Sugar is your number 1 enemy , especially if you have a predisposition for diabetes, or gaining weight easily. I couldn’t believe it. Without exercising, without first, changing my diet, i lost 20lbs in 2 months, just by cutting out sugar. That meant, i cut soda, (soda is the worst) i cut out desert, cookies, cakes, treats, snacks pastries, chocolates, chips. Just by doing that, that completely cut out any desire, for anything that had sugar, and it also cut out my cravings for bad food. I completely stopped eating out, drinking pepsi every day and i had NO desire, for anything bad at all. I was like wow ! This was the key all along.

Then after 2 month and changing my whole diet, my weight started to plateau. I also noticed that by changing my diet so drastically, i became very constipated. I could go days, even a week without having a bowel movement. That made me super bloated, and i couldn’t lose anymore weight. I got really bummed by that, and it almost made me give up. So since i was eating a lot less, i figured i was lacking fiber. Bingo ! I started including yogourt and celery in my diet, et voila ! I started losing weight again !

Fast forward to, today. I am still losing weight, i started including exercises in my daily routine, especially cardio. I check every single label on everything, and i make sure that nothing has too much sugar, especially added sugar. I replaced soda with flavored water. I buy True Lemon packets because it has stevia in it, which comes form a natural plant, and is friendlier to diabetics.

By doing all that, i sleep a lot better, i have much more energy, my skin look a lot better, my memory is better. Ditching sugar is the best thing i could have ever done, for my health and the reason, i was stuck in this vicious cycle, its addictive. There is sugar in almost everything.

When you go on the internet and you read about Ozempic, you usually see people saying : Ozempic is a diabetic medicine ! (It is true) It is meant to helps people with diabetes type 2 lower their blood sugar levels, WHICH will helps them lose weight. Ozempic is for weight loss ! (Not true) I think a lot of people don’t actually understand WHAT Ozempic is, and what it is for, how it works, and what it does. Ozempic is NOT a weight loss medicine, that will make you lose weight. It LOWERS blood sugar…. by helping the pancreas producing more insulin, which lower blood sugar.. by lowering blood sugar… you start losing weight, because of all the reasons i mentioned above.

Ozempic, truly helps people who don’t have as much willpower, to lower their blood sugar, to lose weight. Weight loss is a big factor in getting a normal Ha1c test. Weight loss is super important for a diabetic person, even more than your normal person who have no predisposition to getting diabetes. This medicine helps these people, who have Type 2 diabetes, to lower their blood sugar, in order to be able to cut out the cravings for sweets, and be able to lose weight a lot easier. It was never meant, for celebrities, or tik tok people, to advertise this, as weight loss solution. It does take away from a person who has diabetes and depends on this, to be able to achieve their goals. Some people. who got diagnosed with diabetes had an Ha1c levels of higher than 9-10 and so on. Then they ABSOLUTELY need helps with Ozempic to lower their blood sugar asap. Because high blood sugar is dangerous, especially for a diabetic person.

Diabetic people already have enough struggles and worries, that it is not okay, for random people to see Ozempic, as their weight loss solution. I know from experience that losing weight, can be very difficult. Once you reach a certain weight, if feels like there is no hope. But diabetic people type 2, are insulin resistant, and need Ozempic to help them live a longer life. Help them do that, by trying to find the willpower within you, to achieve your goal without the help of Ozempic. I am diabetic and i decided to not use it. Losing weight for me, as a diabetic person, being insulin resistant is, even much harder, than a normal person who doesn’t have this disease, and i refuse to take it.

If you don’t have diabetes and need help losing weight, metformin is another alternative to Ozempic. It will help you lower your blood sugar, which will help you lose weight.

My Ha1c test was 7.1. Which is not bad for a first time diagnosis. I heard of some people having their test at 15… now that IS bad. By cutting out sugar from my diet, I managed to bring my Ha1c down to 6.8, 3 months later. At my next visit, i am hoping it will be in prediabetes range, at, or below 6.4 I will keep working on it, until i reach normal levels, below 5.7. My doctor was expecting me to already be at the prediabetes range, during my second visit, and that is why he prescribed me Ozempic. But i wanted to do this on my own terms and at my own pace. I lost 25 lbs so far, and i am proud of it. I have been obese for a long time, and i am determine to get back to a healthy weight ,within the next year or so; but i want to do it in a healthy way.

So i decided not to use Ozempic. I already cut out almost all sugar from my diet, my neuropathy symptoms are gone, and i am on the right track. I read all the labels on every food item i buy, until i am familiar with them. The next step will be to cut out most carbs; but I’m very happy of where i am. I know what i am doing and confident i am doing it right.
